After some last minute changes, we headed to Grand for the weekend. Got a late start friday because fishing is secondary and the kindergarden circus was friday morning. Anyway, got to grand late, checked in, and headed out for a bit. Seas were a little rough to run around so we headed back in. Ran out saturday morning, found first pack around 8:45 and first pass resulted in 3 knock downs, converted 2 of them. Spent the rest of the morning picking of singles and a few blackfin as well. No dolphin bites. By 2:00 or so, we had enough tuna and headed in to jump in the water. Shot a few fish and headed in to clean up the boat and fish. Sunday started off with a big swell and limited what we could do. Did find 1 pack and picked up a 15#YFT and gaffer dolphin. Seas laid down by lunch time and we headed in to clean up and unload in time for dinner with the family.

FWIW, this was fun fishing and IGFA rules were not followed to the letter of the law. We may have violated IGFA rules on leader and wind on length, the spearing was certainly not IGFA-compliant. :grin

Double D's got a late start today after work. Headed out Jupiter inlet at around 130pm to nice conditions and great visibility. Decided to scan the beach for cobia. NO LUCK. Went all the way down to Singer Island. Plan B- we see some scattered weed so we decide to search offshore in hopes of finding some big mats of weeds. Get out to around 800 ft and nothing really to report. Decide to troll briefly. NO LUCK. Ok, Plan C- go catch some kings in the middle of the commercial guys without getting in their way. Great rod bending action. Non stop. We only had dead sardines and still did well. The other guys were using live bait and just slaying it!!!
We landed 4 nice kings in a matter of an hour. Time to go in. Nice day on the water. Will give the kings to some buddies to smoke and make fish dip. We catch them and they smoke them and make the dip! Great plan.
If you want to catch some kings, just head out the to parking lot- you can't miss it. Currently in around 75ft of water off Juno Beach.

Had a great time fishing the bash with my wife. Even tho I fish out of a 22 Bay Boat (Sea Pro) we decided to fish offshore b/c of the recent mahi bite. Also, about a week ago I lost 2 monster phins (plane fishn saw one of them) and kinda was hoping for revenge. Anyway, the day started in the north fork, my transducer broke about 50 ft from the ramp, not a good start. I netted some mullet on our way to the inlet and we were off. cleared the inlet around 7 and it was a bumpy ride out, thought about turning around but toughed it out. found a nice rip in 80 ft (guessing by the gps map) and started bump trolling some mullet, we soon had our first knock down but it spit the hook, felt like it had some decent weight but no teeth marks on the mullet :huh the rip disappeared so we went looking deeper, made our way northeast in about 250, saw nothing worth fishing the whole time, some scattered weeds, but nothing great to say the least. we turned west and slowly started heading back. I soon made the decision to fish shallow for some kings b/c I had some perfect size mullet for some smokers, we set up in 70 ft and started bump trolling some big mullet...10 minutes into the troll the tld 20 gets smoked, zzzzzzzzzzzzz. knew it was gonna be a decent fish, it took alot of line. wife drove the boat as i fought the fish, it put up a good fight and took a few more strong runs. finally got a glimpse of it and i knew it was solid fish. I could tell the stinger barley had him hooked, got the gaff in him and we were pumped, i knew it would be tough to beat. We set up the troll one more time and the tld gets smoked again, this time it was my wife's turn, she did a great job and we boated smoker #2, this one wasnt as big so we let it go. we packed up and headed to the weigh in. It went 34 lbs, but felt alot bigger! Fish held up for 1st, even tho the conditions were tough out there, one big fish makes it worth it. The tournament and bash was a great time, sounds like alot of $ rasied for a great cause. And we finally got to meet some fellow members, great times!

Fished the tournament on saturday with our dad, Chris and Cayden. Lines were in at 6:30 and we were bumping gogs around. Before we can get the first line in the rigger the gog get nailed. No bait or fish, Just a coiled up leader. We get the spread set and work south of the inlet for about 2 hours and get just 2 more hit down deep. We put the boat east and put some ballyhoo's out and troll offshore. Found some scattered weed from 600-800 feet. In about 650 we see a couple birds working. So we head that way and the lure gets nailed. Cadyen jumps on the reel and starts cranking. Couple mins later Cayden broke the ice with a phin. Work the same area for a little bit then keep going east. Troll out to 1300 feet and find nothing. We troll back in and get to the lw peir and bump gogs around again. In 75 feet we get another phin on a gog. Trolled for a little bit longer then headed back in at 2:30 to get to the scales. Get to the scales and Cayden weighs his phins. He got 2nd place jr. angler and a trophy. Pretty slow expect for the 2 phins. But Cayden got his trophy and that's all what matter's. Got some video of him fighting the first one and a lot of pics.

Crossed saturday morning to grand in a solid 3ft sea on our 31T Contender "Live Wire". Checked in customs at Walkers, then tried to locate some Yellowfin tuna. Fishing was tough with alot of skipjacks and blackfins but with Captain Garbos expertise we eventually found some birds that were holding the right fish. Ended up catching 5 yellowfins up to 50#. Later that afternoon we decided to spear and shot some BIG hogs in less than 20ft of water. :machinegun

Next morning woke up real early in search of yellowfins again, rough seas made this tough so we opted to search new area for spearfishing spots. Ended up spearing some NICE muttons, hogs, and grouper. After that it was time to head back to Palm Beach in a beautiful laid down sea. It was a great trip and I hope to get over there again in the near future. And for any wise guy that thinks spearfishing is easier than fishing, you are welcome to come and try to shoot some muttons with my buddies and I this summer :grin .

We usually fish the Ft.Pierce area but we decided last weekend to head down to PSL and fish a flat I was interested in trying. We got out and nail a small trout and then it when quit for an hour or so, we changed up colors and managed a few good snook but most were under slot.
We headed back down this weekend and found a few nice trout using live shrimp but the snook bite was not happening so we decided to call it quiets. I was almost to shore when I saw something move in front of me so I tossed a DOA paddle tail in it's general direction and hooked up to a nice snook, she tried to get back to the docks but after a good 10 minute battle that I was sure I was never going to win I got her to turn over and landed her. I didn't weigh or measure her but she was heavy and my biggest snook caught on a flat.

Havnt posted in a while. Just spent the last month fishing all over the Bahamas. Made it back to Florida 3 days ago. Left the dock today at 6:30 and by 7:30 we were hooking up on 4 sails, 3 bonita, 1 tuna and 7 mystery bites that we lost fishing off Push Button Hill trolling 7-10 knts 240'-450' was the magic number. Fished from 7 a.m.- 12 p.m. All fish were all caught on artificials. I used a custom dredge I made while i was in the bahamas to raise billfish. Happy to know it deff works even in Florida.

After a long and bumpy day yesterday offshore SLI we were well rested for an offshore adventure today on the Latitude Adjustment, just me and Mrs LA. Seas were not bad at 2-3 foot although a bit tight wave period, nothing serious and the inlet was fine. Made our way south to just simply bottom fish. No trolling today after el skunko yesterday, ugh!!!

Luckily found a very nice YT snapper bite and pulled in some very nice keepers up to 16 inches. Also scored 5 red grouper (all short) with the biggest at 18 inches..nice tally off Jupiter but not like the Keys where we pull in some very nice grouper for the table. Anyway, Mrs. LA slayed 'em today and pulled in several of the YT's. Thankfully my newly refreshed flatline sardine finally made a big score with a nice 36 inch king mack, the only hit all day on that rod in roughly 85 feet of water, also fought expertly :fishing by Mrs. LA as we switched off at the boat and she was Gaff Girl as well! We fished with fresh shrimp, frozen sardines and some silversides. Just a nice day offshore, cranking some tunes and enjoying ourselves with some sun and fun...not bad for a late 10AM start and back at the dock at 3PM!

Enjoy the pics and tight lines to all!

Had Dean and Jonathon from Jensen Beach with me fishing the bash yesterday. The plan was to launch in Jensen, run up to Fort Pierce, and fish our way down the river. We timed it perfect, and had our first line in the water right about 6:40. The very first bait Dean put down was inhaled by a 34 3/4" snook that was good enough for second place. After a picture and a quick revival we sent her back on her way to make some babies. The next few drifts put two slot fish in the boat, and then the bite tapered off. We hit a few more spots but decided to leave the inlet to look for a big trout or a redfish. We bounced from spot to spot working our way down the river only to catch a few more juvie snook to 25", small trout to 21", and a few jacks.
We had a great time as expected and it nice was putting some screen names to faces.

My buddy called yesterday while I was attending the SE Bash and asked if I would like to join him Sunday morning for some back country snook fishing on his new Gheenoe. ( DUHH, of course I would ) We launched from the palm city boat ramp and headed south. Morning was full of juvenile snook, not big but fun non the less. I'm working the eastern shoreline when all of the sudden I hear behind me this large suction and explosion. My buddy was throwing a top water popper and this thing just inhaled it. He fought him for about 10 minutes, with this monster jumping a few times completely out of the water and a few strong runs up into some shoreline structure. ( don't know how this fish didn't get broke off ). The fish was very FAT and healthy. It measured just over 43". The picture really doesn't do any justice. My buddy is 6'3" and 225lbs. We didn't weigh her but he guessed 30lbs. She was THICK !! I also caught my personally smallest snook ever. It was a great, relaxing morning after a fun filled day at the bash yesterday.<a href="http://forums.floridasportsman.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=85917&d=1368992800" title="Name: digital 171.jpg

It had been awhile since I’ve had BFT so the ones I ate from Thursday really wet my appetite, so plan was to get to the hill early get some BFT’s, hopefully pick up a phin or 2 then get home early. No crew today so I was solo and was exiting the inlet at about 530am. In 168’ I saw a roundish patch of brown ahead of the boat and closing fast so I pulled back on the throttles (it was still pretty dim out) thinking it was a turtle. Turns out it was a patch of weeds in a very nice weed line and rip… now I’m tempted to fish it :willynilly but decide to stick with the plan and come back to it later. Arrive on the hill @ 615 or so and start trolling. After about 15 minutes one rod goes berserk and is losing line fast, I get it under control and it’s a very nice BFT (my largest :hail ) I’m guessing 15-20lbs. Trolled for another 45min with not even a knockdown and cant get the weedline off my mind so I decide to go back to it. When I arrive the weeds are there but the current is not and the weeds are now real scattered, I set out some baits and trolled it for a bit till a rain shower that had been west moved back east and drenched me for 20 minutes. Got tired of the rain and lack of action and the wind was picking up so I head east out of the rain and troll from 150- 120 with scattered weed throughout but no takers. Pulled the plug at 1130 to get back early to clean up and rest.

So decided to make the run to the 50 line with Cajun Rich, Lou and John. Clear out of Hillsboro right around 4pm and start heading down to the grounds. Get out around 45' of water and spot a dive sausage sticking up out of the water. John turns away from them and as we pass by well south of them, we're all looking to see where the dive boat was and can't see it. Throttle back and the closest boat we see is a good mile away. Suggested to John we at least go check the divers and see what was up.

Gotta tell you, those two guys were VERY happy to see us. Clear the fishing gear and get them hauled up on board. Checked to make sure it was just the two of them then try to hail the dive boat. After a number of failed attempts, call the Coasties to let them know we had the two divers if anyone called in. Power up and head south and after 20 minutes finally located their dive boat. Not sure how they got so far away, but all ended well.

Hoping the fish gods would reward us. Didn't happen. 1 solid hit that a 50-something inch swordy chased up boatside. He swam right under the boat, spun around and came right back under the second time, took a look at the flat line bait and sunk back down into the darkness. Cranked up at 1:00am only to find the deep bait was gone.

Fished the Frances Langford Memorial Tournament out of Jensen Beach yesterday on Bandit's 36' Invincible with my friend Captain Ron Mitchell. It was an SKA tournament so after kings we went! Broke PSL Inlet at 5:30am and fished off Juno/Jupiter and slayed em. Hooked 16 kings, kept 10, released 4, lost 2 with the largest being 40.6lbs good enough for 5th place. Also had a nice 36lber and 33lber with the rest being in the mid to high 20's. We also snagged a nice 21.7 blackfin at the end of the day good enough for 2nd place Tuna. Great time, great team and always a pleasure to fish with them! It was pretty much non-stop action all day so I didn't get many pics but here are a few!

OK GUYS.. ***DISCLAIMER FOR FOUL LANGUAGE*** BUT IT IS A FUN VIDEO!!!

The Plane Fish N team assembled at the Leighton Park ramp in Palm City.

Today we had the "Dream Team" consisting of Chad (The Sailman), Pete (Swordawet), Sean (Shoeless), Stuart (Ontheedge5658) and myself.

We made it to the pocket at 0630am only to find that the bait guy was out and looking for some himself. :banghead

Instead, we headed out the inlet and our plan was to head Northeast as the dolphin bite had been stronger for us in that direction previously.

We had 7 lines out ... 2 outrigger.. 2 flat lines... 1 downrigger.. one shotgun skirted hoo waaaaaaay back and a little squider in the prop wash.

We trolled from 65 feet to 280 feet and we decided to go back to an edge we found in 160'.

All of a sudden, one of the flatlines goes off and Sean is on it like stink on s**t. This "thing" is peeling line off as we kept our speed up for a bit.

Sean starts to reel this object in and as it gets to within 75' of the boat... it looks like he has snagged a buoy. Now.. we were all looking in the rule book for the legal size and weight of a buoy. Who the heck catches a buoy???? US!!!!! :huh

This buoy suddenly looks like a fish with it's mouth fully open.. and... it appears that Sean drowned the thing :grin:grin.. but wait... it's still alive and it is a dolphin..

Eric expertly missed the phin with the first gaff shot but brings it in on the second.. :wink

This fish is 49" long.. it's a whopper :willynilly .. it's gotta be the first place winner.. it's feisty.. in the box it goes!!

High fives all around the boat..

Well, we each take a peek at this huge phin and each time we look at it.. its getting lighter and lighter :rotflmao ... we can't believe how skinny it is.. I mean.. it's so skinny.. Pete nicknamed it the Ethiopian Dolphin. :)

Chad is up next.. but as quickly as this fish peeled line off, it's off the hook..

We trolled around for a couple of more hours and in 54', our left flat line gets nailed hard..

It spools down to half on the TLD 25 before Stuart nails it and he is ON!!!!!

Stuart fights this fish (assuming a smoker because it was toothy and in the right depth) and all of a sudden.. a huge head shake and it's off!!! I think you will see Stuarts reaction on the video. :spin

at 12:30pm, we decide to call it a day and head back to the Bash.

Just a few words about the bash..

Thanks to Long Nguyen and his entire team that he assembled to make sure this bash was a success. :applause:applause

Long and team made all of us proud to be part of this wonderful event for a very cute boy named Dylan. We raised a lot of money for him and hopefully that will take some of the burden off his wonderful family who were showing that they were caring and loving. :USA

Congratulations to the Joupi Family!!!!

Cheers
