Applying as a Group - Question

MackokidMackokid Posts: 905 Officer

We've always applied individually but was wondering how the group system worked. If we apply as a group, it uses the person with the lowest preference points for the whole group correct? If we don't win, does that mean that we all will get a preference point added for that season? Or is there a special "group preference point" category that we'll have now?

Thanks as always!

They take the person in your group with the lowest PP and use that as the groups application preference.  And if you do not get drawn everyone will get one point assigned to their personal account.  There is no group point.

I thought so @KayakMacGyver, thank you for verifying this!

@Binellister I could easily see how a group of people could easily tie up a local sought after WMA if this was not the case. The person with the highest returns his permit after getting drawn - gets his points back - and all his buddies get to go every year and he continues this every year.

IMO very little reason to apply as a group anymore with the current guest regulations.  This is especially true on WMAs that read "2 per permit but only one per person".  Thinking more of turkey here not deer.
