April 1st Destin/Ft Walton fishing report

One word....SPANISH!   Being caught everywhere pretty much. Okaloosa pier they have been filling coolers and they have also showed up at Shalimar bridge.  Gotchas are the weapon of choice for these.  I'm still getting good red, black drum, and trout action in the coves and bayous when live shrimp are available, which is tough right now due to the high winds.  Live shrimp+ docks with big boats = blacks and reds.  Trout using popping cork with a live shrimp or gulp shrimp or top water lure such as  mirrordine or one of my favorites a white super fluke.  And i don't know about you but I'm about to start hitting some night time dock lights.  Throw past the lights and burn a Yo-zuri thru or something like it.  Bigger fish hanging down below if you have some shrimp and a 1/4 oz weight toget it down fast.  Have a great week!  Weather is getting so nice and hopefully winds give us a little break!

Seems a bit early but is the bait in?

    Pilchards or cigars?
