Suwannee - Irma

How did Suwannee fare? My father has not been able to get to Suwannee to check the fish camp.

Maybe no one knows because no one has been there?

Not a time to get smarmy with the people who are actually here...

    Thanks

I apologize. Dad is busy helping others(he has a tractor) and I have a Grandma who lost her house in Houston and I am probably driving 16 hours to bring her home(to Illinois) tonight.

Trying to coordinate has been tough and mix in hours of not knowing if people are OK(We didnt hear from Gramma for 48 hours). I might have let the frustration slip.

I am thankful I was not in harms way and wish every one returns to normalcy as soon as possible.

If it helps anyone. Located on the freshwater side on a canal. No power lost, no water in house(ground level house). Word is the angle/path of the storm was such that Suwannee fared very well.

The whole northwest coast fared pretty well as far as water damage.

The opposite of a storm surge, some places went completely dry.

I'll take that over what we got from last years storm. :)

Fake news. They are monitoring it but no definite closure.

Not saying it won't happen, but it hasn't been determined yet.

Definitely not fake news though. Many homes in the Sante Fe and Suwannee River Valley are either in danger of or have already flooded. The Sante Fe is up 15 feet! I saw it today in High Springs and it is definitely moving fast.

You can check this on the FDOT website.

The following bridges over the Sante Fe might close: I-75, US 27, US 41, SR 47, US 121

There was no storm surge in Suwannee. As long as the wind didn't damage anything, I imagine your fish camp is alright. You could call one of the marinas in town and ask if they could check your property. Most folks there would do it no problem I imagine. You could repay them with a 6 pack later.
