Helicopter Crash in Panacea

Hate to hear this morning that a helicopter with two people crashed in Panacea last night in the marsh at the end of the airstrip. Appears they clipped the power lines or some trees. Both aboard were killed.

Don't have info on the type of helicopter yet but was told it was definitely civilian.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the victims in the helicopter crash.

Curtis Robert Clifford, 53 and Terry Bryan Ooten, 49, both of Tallahassee were found dead at the scene of the crash.

Sheri Noelle Devore, 45, of Tallahassee was the lone survivor. She has been rushed to an area hospital. We are still waiting on her condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation and Safety Board have been notified and will be investigating tomorrow.

Sheri DeVore survived the helicopter crash, but her significant other, Terry Ooten, did not. I understand Terry was the pilot, and he along with another passenger, Curtis Clifford died in the crash. Sheri is a good friend of ours. My wife and I had met Terry. Sheri is in TMH trauma center in stable but serious condition. Prayers for Sheri and all families involved.

Another tragic accident associated with the Wakulla airport, I hope the young lady will recover from her injuries and offer prayers for the families. I can think of now of 5 deaths, all at night, in the last 10 or so years there.

Terry and his wife Melissa (separated) are owners of Hurricanes Grill and the now closed Smokehouse on TVille Rd and Bannerman.

    Sad new for sure.
