Recommendations for fishing in Stuart area

NJ JoeNJ Joe Posts: 3 Greenhorn
I will be vacationing in Stuart from Feb 3 thru 10 and would like to get out fishing several times. I have already contacted "Off the Chain" who is trying to put together a group for one day since I can't afford to charter a six-pack boat for just myself. I would welcome any suggestions about other opportunities too, such as party boats or river fishing if I can't join a couple six-pack groups as a single. Any recommendations on a tackle shop who could point me in the right direction with the right stuff for fishing off bridges and river banks? I have already posted this in the "Sticky - Need A Crew / Want To Fish" thread.

I don't live there but visit frequently. If wading try Herman's Bay or east/west banks by the power plant.

If you do go out on a drift boat, which I really don't recommend as the ones here are pretty low quality, the Safari is a bit better than Lady Stuart.
I would say avoid the bridges too, they generally are not very good from shore. Some of the better places to wade are anywhere along Indian River Drive or A1A where you can park, but wading is the key word, as fishing from land will not catch much, if anything. The beaches are pretty good this time of year too.

Check with Pat Price on the "Daymaker" as he puts together split charters as well. No one that I know of does splits on river charters except "Catch 22". Another option is the "Black Dog" out of Jupiter Inlet who has a very good reputation for bottom fishing. Good luck. You'll be fishing in one of the best spots in Florida!
