Ya have to travel quite a distance up pis to find bait. Water in lowere pis sucks. Bait has moved way up.
Found big threads off the beach last couple times out. About a mile offshore by the the sanibel moorings resort.

Threadfin schools offshore have been thinning out. Over the last two weeks of being out there I saw the first one today. Lots of glass minnows right now, small threadfin have been around the bridges. Smaller than a 1/4" is required, they make for great snapper bait.

We found a lot of bait on the North Inside of Redfish Pass. Didn't need to thru chum, but we did anyways and the bait was thick!!!! Decent size and NO sardines to speak of!

Loads of cigar minnows on the artificials from 30'-45' off Sarasota this weekend. Chum them up and throw the big net, just make sure to pull it closed and up before it get's caught on the reef.

Any update guys in the pine island area? I've struggled lately to find some bait. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the shoals off Bokeelia. Lots to choose from. Pins, Threadfins, Mojarra, Ballyhoo, etc.

Lemon Bay is absolutely jam packed with bait right now. I've never seen so much whitebait. Mullet are all over also... big ones on the flats and the finger mullet are stacked in the channels.
Tarpon... everything else is just bait.

Went out Friday and Saturday (9/23 and 9/14) near Stump Pass. Found lots of bait in Ski Alley just North of Stump Pass. Lots of bait in that little "lagoon" at the Northwest Corner of Stump Pass and areas just off the beach outside Stump Pass.

Some of the spans have been holding few, other charter capts have been hammering the small schools around. I've just been loading up on pins. Tomorrow going for snapper so I'll work hard to find the pilchards and give you a report Friday.

Found medium and large whitebait at c span on Sunday. Not the big schools were used to seeing. Had to work for it but it is there, after punching through the millions of glass minnows on top. Lol.

I've been fishing Sarasota area the last few weekends and have found some luck around deep water docks that have neighboring grass flats. Fish are clumped in schools no bigger than 3 dozen...After 30 or so minutes I'll have my comfortable amount, but they aren't very large at all. Medium at best. Any suggestions on where else to search? Maybe deeper water?

I haven't fished since Dec, due to ball season. Any input would be appreciated on where the bait is. Captiva and South Charlotte harbor.

Blacked out the well on B span last Friday with 4-6" threadfins, but **** that wind and chop had water breaking over the bow on the incoming tide.
