    Menhaden. Mastry's did not have them. Gator Jim's does but they look crusty. I'm looking for fresh scoops.

    Whenever I can't catch or find shad, I will use mullet as a substitute, they work very well. There is only one real difference, you can chum with shad. We usually chum with 3x as many as we use as bait on our hooks. 

    There are a couple of guys getting fresh shad now, but if you don't buy from them consistently (a bucket or two) over several weeks/months, it is very hard to get on the list of customers. 

    Have you tried the guy I gave you the number for last year?

    I have not tried this season as he did not respond last year. I was able to get bait from him twice 2 years ago... Do you k ow if he's up and running?
