The end...and the begining.

So Tuesday was the end of the "streak".... 20 is a record run for me but I was always knowing it would end.  It COULD have been...but I lost both Reds I had hooked.  I had a few trout on the CAL and had a couple snook too....and I stayed in the game till almost 1 PM but I was beat tired and hungry...I folded.

The up side is that without the pressure of keeping a streak alive I could do some other things and look around a little more since all this wind and rain has really changed conditions...not to mention the full moon has the water super low at sunrise.
When I got to the ramp it was unusual and kind of a cluster fark. Topwater guy is there and several commercial Kingfish boats and a couple others...first time I saw that many boats there before 6AM. I get out and I see Pal;m Beach Pete go by on his paddleboard...we chat a minute and he keeps paddling into a brisk early morning wind. It takes a bit to find the trout and after a couple missed strikes I connect with 2 sub slots...and move on. I head to the east side to get out of the wind and it doesn't take too long to find this guy on a white/white CAL

By the time I finish my spot...I get one more strike....

It's early and we have the reset...a slam and that makes #32   I keep fishing and get two more. I try one last spot and get a jack and....a Flounder!  so...that's dinner.

Thursday I head out and it is a little easier to bang out 4 small trout at the first spot.  I head to yesterdays snook spot but it is just a ladyfish.  I move to a wind swept edge where I see bait making up and it doesn't take long...

It is really fortuitous to get a slot snook on the last day...I'm pretty happy. So now I need that Red.
I look high and low....and put 4 more snook in the boat....some are 20 inchers..but others are going to put a smile on my face maybe in September.

I even get another flounder.  I net a couple baits and run to a spot that has some possibilities on the now flooding tide. I start pitching baits to bait schools and..

and 1 more

So, it's 11 AM and that is two in a row...#33

I did a quick look.... I am a good bit ahead of this time last season.....hope it holds.

Nice stuff....   Hopefully this weekend will be the "beginning" for me -- if you don't count my trip to Flamingo.
