Saturday 2/10/18 matlacha

Headed out on the Action Craft with my father in law and buddy Tom. We worked north of the bridge in the morning. Didn't see or catch much minus a 24" snook early on... tried working the mangroves and potholes with almost no success. Not a lot of water movement early on and steady strong winds. Had a giant school of ladyfish that were absolutely destroying some glass minnows. We boated a ton on soft plastics and put a bunch in the cooler for some offshore bait.
We moved to the south side of the bridge and worked a couple different deep water flats and oyster bars. Found some wonderful catfish and picked up a handful of lower slot trout.
Not a whole lot of action, but still a nice day out on the water.

Can't wait to fish with you in a couple of weeks. Could you recommend some inshore lures we can throw from land for snook, ladies, etc.
    Thanks.

Hey Joe, a few of the common lures we regularly use are as followes:

    zara spook, white/bone color
mirrodine suspending twitch bait in a green/silver pattern
bucktail jigs... a wide variety from 1/4 ounce to 2 ounces
    regular jigs with gulp shrimp
zoom split tails 5" rigged weedless with a bass hook 3/0 hook

usually its a match the hatch kind of deal. The gulp shrimp/ 1/4 ounce jighead is the one id porbably throw the most of this time of year, along with live shrimp or whitebait on a jighead...

    See ya next week!
