6 Week Hiatus is Over!
Launched Weds Feb 7 for the 1st time since Dec 27th.
Water was 68.8f and a falling tide.
Started at a favorite island throwing bucktails and jerk baits.
Fishing partner catches a 14" trout on 3rd cast.
A few more short trout and small jacks.
Went to the far end of the island and caught 6 small silver trout.
Out to near Cape Romano and again, short trout/jacks.
Into the Morgan River and jacks/trout/mangrove snapper.
Back to the outside and caught a ladyfish.
Chunked it out and caught a 10-pound jack, 4-foot spinner shark and a large sailcat.
Partner did manage another large jack on a blue jerk bait.
Hurried back inside to catch the last of the falling tide on the cut by Kice Island.
Caught this pretty (small and looks) mangrove snapper.
Threw my last chunk of ladyfish out.
Rod bends and reel screams. Turned the fish around and 30-leader breaks at the boat.
Clean cut and no tell-tale chafing from a sharks skin.
It was great to be back on water!
