Bring on the warm weather... I need a tarpon fix!
I think I'm having withdrawals... haven't jumped a tarpon in about a month. Been out during this cold weather looking for them regardless, trying to find new wintertime spots for them. I've been seeing several here and there but just haven't gotten one on lately. This mornings' efforts were concentrated in Charlotte Harbor near shallow water with a close-by drop off... figuring they might be staging in the deeper water at night and then heading out to the warm, shallow water in the day. Saw 4 nice adults and had some good casts at them, but they weren't having it. Probably saw 50 or so babies roll, most around the 10 pound mark. Did get a couple light hits from them (I assume it was them)... but no hook ups. Bycatch today was a couple jacks and snook.
Water temp was 64. Bring on 74!
2017 Tarpon Count: 109/431
