I found an article on wikipedia that suggested 3 ways to "un-freeze" the zippers. After about an hour soaking/scrubbing all six zippers with a toothbrush dipped often in white vinegar, things started to loosen up. The vinegar removed the exterior salt build up immediately, but it took a while to get to the back and inside the pull tab. Stil l couldn't get them open until I used needle pliers to grasp the metal housing and work it back and forth. Soaked a bit more and pulled again. All zippers now worked - cleaned the back and teeth where it was frozen.
