Xcelerator 21' Build

xceleratorxcelerator Posts: 150 Officer
Hey Everyone,

Its been a while since iv been on the site and noticed this new forum section that allows us to post the build of our 21'. I know I covered some of the beginning of the build on our last build thread but I will start over. The boat is 21' with an Armstrong bracket and a 200 4 stroke. This will make the LOA about 24'6". Beam is 8'4" and draft is 15". The boat is going to be set up as a multi-versatile fishing machine. It will be set up for inshore fishing in the front with a casting deck and livewells and set up for offshore or nearshore trolling in the back. It will be finished off in Alexseal Ice Blue with a white interior.

Those outter chine logs have tremendous amounts of stress put on them. Why did you apply them after the hull was glassed and faired and not before? I don't see any way that those pieces wont fail over time. Did you guys consider this while you were building? Have your boat designer do a load calculation on that area and see. That would be a ton of work to repair it down the road, plus a really unhappy customer.

Classic1, we wait because it makes the blocking much easier when faring. Once we are done and dry fit the mahogany rails, we take them back off and grind the faring back down to bare glass. We then glass and tab in the spray rails and fare them back out to blend in with the hull. Basically end result is the same as what your saying just different order of steps.

Very nice !! Can the tank be removed with those tubes in place ? They appear to be on top of the tank .

Thanks. The console and leaning post are both bolted to recessed toe kicks so all you have to do is disconnect the wiring and steering lines and they come right out. Then you can cut the deck over the tank. With the wiring unplugged, the chase tubes swing right out of the way after you take of the mounting clamps. The nice thing about the teak floor is that when doing all this work, it can be glassed and covered back up with the same teak planks avoiding a bunch of messy faring and paint work.

Over the past few days we installed the double layered sole and glassed it in. We also started dry fitting the interior. Tomorrow we will finish the front section and start adding the radiuses and sanding the interior.

Gotta say, I love watching the boat come together. Wish I could be there to learn the process. I've always wanted to built a strip built kayak, but I'm too chicken. Watching your work makes me wonder .... GREAT job!!

    Thanks guys!

Today we finished about 75% of the forward section. Still have to build the step/storage area against the front bulkhead and laminate another layer to the deck. Also started on the scupper drains. Here is what we have so far.

Is the little skiff in one of the pictures a Bayshore?

Never mind. I just say your other thread. Beautiful boat. I want one.

Well the past week has been nothing but spreading, spraying, and sanding. We are narrowing in on it but she will be perfect when done. Tomorrow we will pull some fillets which will really tie everything together.

The past week doesn't show a ton of progress but we are into the time consuming details that have to be perfect before final finish. Once we finish installing the hatch gutters and glass and fare them, we will spray one final coat of Alexseal 328 and do a final round of blocking. Hoping to have boat in the paint booth by the end of the month!

We have a few short sleeve and long sleeve left. Next batch wont be in until after xmas. What size do you need? We are selling them at cost plus shipping to anyone willing to wear them and spread the word. I think short sleeve are $9 and long sleeve are $12.

    Thanks for the interest.
