Fort Myers Offshore 12/12

Had some clients from Wisconsin that wanted to run offshore this past weekend. Loaded up with pilchards in one throw of the net, and ran out to a shrimp boat in 100'. Immediately set up and began live chumming pilchards, shortly we had a few baracudas boat side. Took the wire off and the AJ's began biting, the bigger ones have made a big push in closer and there is an abundance of them offshore. Some of the bigger ones may have been in the 80-90lb range. Live chumming fired everything up out there, before we left the wreck about a 100 yards back there was a big school of 50-75 AJ's cruising the waves pretty spectacular. Decided to go land some snapper for the group, caught a bunch of mangroves and some big lanes for the box. They said it was plenty for dinner for the next few nights. Stopped one last time on a nice hard bottom area and Matt reels in a beautiful 35" gag on my 5k Saragosa on a 10-20lb class rod. What a fight and a beautiful fish, these big boys are just now starting to really push in near shore.

Two weeks ago we did have a banner Cobia day off Ft Myers Beach, we kept 3 cobias all 37" long. We boated a total of 20, and had 7 that we released were keepers. Last weekend did a two hour trip out with my Father and I, caught our cobia limit, and also one smoker 35lb king and a 15lber as well.
