the 12 was a bit light for shopping in "The Bay", I switched to a turret mount GE chain gun in .30 for the truck and now I shoulder an AR in .50beowolf

That should work. An AR in .450 Bushmaster is effective as well. Especially when you just need to run in Target for supplies.
