wondering if they are still in relatively shallow water (80-120) or have they moved out to deeper stuff. Fished SLI last week and caught nothing but bonitas and my son's first sailfish. We had alot of fun, but did some head-scratching over the lack of 'phins. Thanks guys.

Ken

Here is a shot of my son's sail right before she was released. Got some great video and jumps out of her too!

I really don't think there have been that many reports because of the updated site. Seems many have not posted lately. Where is everyone:shrug

I was out last Saturday scouting for mini season. Heard almost no chatter on the radio about anyone catching anything. On the plus side it was flat out there and the water was great..

Caught seven, kept six. The biggest was 24lbs. We caught them in 240 ft on the weeds......had a great time. Finally got a few "phins in the cooler. Whew! I will post some pix tomorrow...too freaking tired right now.

We caught one trolling (a green/yellow BillyBait with a ballyhoo) and caught the others after seeing some peanuts on a huge weed raft. Stopped, chummed 'em up to a frenzy and picked 'em off over a period of a couple of hours. Stayed on the same weed patch and drifted along with it. The amount of life around those weeds is staggering. There were huge schools of file fish, little triggers, large groups of small rainbow runners, bar jacks and every time we hooked a fish...it didn't matter if it was a dolphin or a silky shark, the bigger dolphin would instantly show up out of nowhere and start hanging around the boat. They were finicky, but with persistence and light chumming we were able to catch 'em. It was a lot of fun

On a side bar....using a brand new gaff since some jackleg decided to steal mine out of my boat last week when we fished down in Stuart. I have had TERRIBLE luck with thieves lately. Sorry for the rant....just venting!

With any luck...the theif will get the gaff stuck in a very uncomfortable spot on his body....

World Cat 250 SF.....Kat B'Lue. Just bought it last month and loving it. Took a little time to get used to the handling, but what a joy to fish in. If the crooks would leave me alone I would be having even more fun...lol. What kind of cat do you have?
