Continued my surf fishing streak yesterday. Got there around 7am, tide was incoming. Started casting my 2 oz gator spoon working up and down the beach. Finally got a good tug on the other line and to my surprise it was a 15" pompano caught on a 2oz spoon! He struck pretty close to shore. Dinner was coming home for the day. After a few more casts caught a just short 17 1/2" red so off he went back to get bigger. A bunch more casts and caught my biggest personal snook at 32". The strike was an awesome site, had seen the snook earlier working the mullet pods. It saw my spoon just as the wave crested and the snook beelined straight to it and it was game on! Landed her and took a quick few photos and off she went back to spawn and make more snook. Kept casting a bit more and landed a slot 18 1/2" red. Took home the the red and pomp for the grill. Done by around 10:00am. Great morning surf fishing!

I usually surf fish down in the Melbourne Beach area but have not landed a snook or red down there. I know there are more rocks up in the Satellite area. Does that have anything to do with the presence of snook or reds?

There's snook in Melbourne Beach and they are closer than you think, about knee deep, just find the first trough.

A spoon in the surf for a pomp, reds, and a snook, don't get much better.

Large Snook like structure and ambush points unless they are feeding in numbers in a frenzied state. Satellite bch has plenty of reefs and rocks which draw them in this time of year.

Nice catch!!
