What's up? We caught enough for dinner and then some... but you already knew that didn't you?

Had an AMAZING wedding party thrown for us last night, and this morning it was my sister that convinced my foggy brain that going fishing was a good idea. So we went... after a very tasty and somewhat strong bloody marry.

Got out to the rocks and turned our first four shrimp into two pomps and two sheepies... Nice! Felt really good to put a bend in the rod. I'm going to try my hand a turkey hunting for the second time ever next weekend, and then it's back to the water. Yall stay tuned.... Back Porch is up and running and I hope to do as much fishing as I can between now and next fall.

Bachelor part is Venice and then that thing afer the wedding is two week sin the keys, SO, I sure hope to have some good pics for everone and some great reports.

For now, here's the pass....

Yes, live shrimp. But they were also chewing fresh dead just as well.

Had a dinner date with the two pompano last night...

NICE trip indeed. Way to finish it off too...those pomps look unbelievably good on the grill. I've been fishing since the age of 5, and pretty hardcore, but pompano is one fish that I've never tasted. Never caught one either, amazingly enough. I might have to give them a try one of these days.

Does the run get stronger as the water warms up or slow down? I know nothing other than rigging and general areas to try, so I'm curious when the best time to get after them might be.

In the surf the best luck I've had is on an incoming tide through to high tide with the water kicked up a bit, but not too rough to hold bottom with a 4-5oz pyramid sinker. There are days where even 6oz won't hold and on those days I don't tend to have any luck with pompano. The run should pick up in the next couple of weeks. Most I've gotten recently is 3 in a trip. Tried fishing the falling tides in excellent weather for a few days recently and got nothing but cats, rays, and sharks.

I must say that is one of the most inviting pictures I have seen, the two tastiest species in the sea along with an ice cold brew within arms reach....... It may not get any better than that! Nice catch. And the grilled pomps on the cedar planks with the belgian beer looks like it will knock your d in the dirt lol 8.0 % alcohol!
