Here are a few pics of fish I've been getting into the past month. The technique of choice has been chumming snapper up to the surface and free-lining little pieces of bait on tiny hooks back into the chum-slick.

5 person limit of Red Snapper plus a bunch of Vermilion Snapper, a few peanut Mahi's, and a King.

Nice job!! We are coming to Destin this weekend (Friday thru Monday). Not used to fishing the area but hoping our instincts work well. Would like to bring back some "red snappa" back as we are still closed over here in the Atlantic!!! I will not ask for specific numbers but if you could give me some good "areas" to fish that would be greatly appreciated. Thinking about taking my yak but may wait till i get a better feel for the area waters. Thanks and again congrats!!

Are you bringing your own boat or planning on chartering? If your own boat, or yak, do a google search for Okaloosa County's Artificial Reef program. They're got a TON of public #'s, many of which are reachable from a kayak.

If you plan on chartering I'd recommend looking at the Destin Princess or Destiny (http://www.destinpartyboatfishing.com/).

Also, my buddy Brandon Denney runs Kayak charters inshore and offshore and can put you on some good fish! He's got a small fleet of yaks so you wouldn't need to bring your own. http://www.ebkfish.com/

Good luck,
Alex

Alex - thanks for the input. We are not dragging either one of our boats. We will be utilizing someones Parker to do our fishing with. I will check out the artificial reef numbers for Okaloosa. Are either you or Brandon on YakAngler.com? We would like to see some reports from the panhandle on there. Check it out! I appreciate your help and info!! I will let you know how we do!
