All right all...I know I've been off the forum for a bit, but it was hunting season (and really not fond of the new forum). But now, its time to get the ball rolling for the 2012 Bash! All in favor....??

I'm in the process of getting quotes from Bimini Sands, Blue Marlin Cove and probably Rosies. Just because I have every year...however everything depends on how many people are interested and we all know Majority rules.

My 1st choice is and will always be Bimini. Mainly because Bimini is 47NM from Port Everglades, their rates are hard to beat for all the accommodations you get and the place is the only place you really need. They have Customs, Food, Alcohol, a Pool and Fuel all on site. For those who were hesitant and went along with us in 2007...They only provided accolades for the entire trip and thus, it has been there ever since. Over the last 3 years the fishing has actually gotten better each year and many new spots have been found and shared so we all share in the wealth of bent rods! The accommodations at Bimini Sands are really 2nd to none and our group has a good standing reputation on the Island. :banana

Anyhow...Respond with your vessel name and whether you are interested or a "for sure" for this year...

If I'm not mistaken, we should have 7 rooms booked with some of our return attendee's who have already expressed an interest in booking when needed....

For those still with questions, here the best info I can give at this point. The trip will be from Wednesday-Sunday. Either the 2nd or 3rd week in June (Just been really good crossings for us the last 3 years). It will most likely be on South Bimini @ Bimini Sands. I can not give many more specifics because I need to get a grasp on who is really interested, who just wants to know whats happening and those who will book a room when given the word. But I'd like to know where all of you stand. I know things come up...but lets get this thread moving

OH!!!! IMPORTANT FOR ALL OLD AND NEW ATTENDEE's....

After creating the Facebook Page for the Bash, I also created an email specifically for the bash so I could track emails better. So for all...look for the email address BLUEWATER.BAHAMA.BASH@GMAIL.COM

That will be the corresponding email for the bash. If you or anyone you know is interested please email me at BLUEWATER.BAHAMA.BASH@GMAIL.COM with your names and Boat Name so I can add you to the email list. The email list will be new so all those on the old email list (of 112 people) will have to respond if they still want info regarding the event. This is so they dont get my "spammed" emails about the event if they are not interested. I will forward this in an email with my old email address so everyone has the info and can respond accordingly.

Hope all is well and you all had a very Merry Christmas, Hanukah and a Happy New Year. Now...get your heads right and let me know (respond) about this years Bash!!

This event is only getting better with sponsors like AVID TACKLE, BAHAMA LURES AND OFISHULZ FISHING APPAREL...

PRELIMINARY DATES ARE SET:

JUNE 13-17, 2012

Sorry for the additional post...it wouldn't allow me to edit the first for some reason

Guys and Gals...

I have 127 views...only 5 votes (1 being mine) and no replies as to whether or not anyone is interested in attending. There have been only 4 who have verified their desire to attend:

On Island Time
Plastered
Smokin Reels
Mary Lynn

I need to have 10 rooms at the minimum to get the group rate. If I cant get 10 rooms booked...there will be no Bash. I'm not asking for a commitment without knowing location or rates. Simply looking for who would be interested. Those will be the people I contact through email so I'm not spamming everyone.

Thanks

I hear ya Danny. But let me tell you, the reason I schedule the trip the 2nd or 3rd week in June is we've always had good seas for the crossing. I'm glad to know you're interested considering seas. Shoot me your email...because soon I will be shooting out info on emails.

Neal (Plastered)...thanks for handling the fish fry. Always a blast with the Plastered Crew...blow-up or not! LOL

So those who may not get it...Paul (Bluewater 1) is going be to sending info out about the Bash in the Bluewater newsletter. Hope more will show some interest.

Also...for all who like Bluewaters, Paul and the Crew will be at the Stuart Boat Show. So stop by and see them and the slick azz flats boats

Why no Bimini Nick? Its still great! And lots of fun areas to go! Plus the fishing has been outstanding the last few years. BMC is still an option. Waiting to get their quote for the group.

On Island Time

Why no to Bimini Nick? You been there recently?

Bimini is still a great place! And lots of extra curricular activities for the non-fisherman/woman! Which we all know WE does not have. In the last couple years the fishing has been stellar. Our group has caught YFT, BFT, Blue Marlin, YTS and YES, so its very comparable to WE.

Dont get me wrong I'm checking BMC and BMC is still an option. I'm just waiting to get their quote for our group. I've stayed at BMC once and enjoyed my time and their establishment. Problem last year was...I needed 22 condos and they didnt have enough. PLus everyone needed to book by Jan 31st...which was tough for some with commitment issues. I've never had an issue with those who want to go to Bimini. And I have built a great relationship with those at the Sands...enough where we dont get charged for some amenities.

But I will go where the group decides.

On Island Time
01-18-2012, 07:34 PM
After concluding my last post....I guess I better throw this out since I am getting limited info from the forum here. If you are interested in attending the Bash please let me know where you are and are not willing to go. Reason being is I will be required to get 10 rooms booked at either location in order to get group rates.

With that said...if I have 6 for each local then we wont meet the accommodations criteria for a group rate.

Please post up or email me at:

Bluewater.Bahama.Bash@gmail.com

Thanks...we have to book a local before February 5th in order to obtain the rooms.

Steve, I'm in for Bimini, but not sure about WE.

On Island Time
01-19-2012, 02:06 PM
Thanks for the response Mike. This is the info I need to know.

This year is gonna be tough getting a group big enough to get descent rates. Some only wanna go to WE, others only Bimini. Makes for a difficult booking. Especially when I'm trying to get better rates than last year. I will keep everyone posted.

It's just a matter of convenience for me. WE I leave from the dock. Bimini I have to trailer down to FTL or MIA...which I am not a fan of doing with the wife and two kids. Just easier for me. Otherwise I wouldn't care.

On Island Time
01-23-2012, 12:03 AM
Nick...I totally understand. WE is probably gonna be the location this year as Bimini Sands is saying they are booked already the 3rd week in June. And BMC is a great local which is giving me some really good rates.

All those interested in going to WE please let me know asap. I will email our group rates and need to get this booked relatively fast as rooms are booking. BMC can only accommodate 14 condos / boats. So let me know ASAP!

On Island Time
01-23-2012, 07:16 PM
Ok all...I spoke with Bimini Sands and they are booked apparently during our dates and stated that they could not accommodate our group, therefore Blue Marlin Cove has the 2012 Bluewater Bahama Bash.

I have received great rates from Brian however with only 14 units available...we have to move fast in order to get our rooms booked and secured. We will have to provide payment for 1 night only. And the rates are great. If you are interested please let me know as I have 6 boats in for sure...and 10 on the fence waiting for rates. Some are non-Bluewaters.

Bluewaters and past attendee's will get 1st dibs but only until booking time! Then I have to fill the rooms with whoever is able to pay for 1 nights stay.

If you are interested please email me so I can send the booking information out to you. Booking deadline is still unknown but prices vary based on the amount of rooms we book. My Goal is to book all of BMC. Email me at bluewater.bahama.bash@gmail.com

Cant say enough about Joe and Deans hospitality. Marvin and Shannon are always and will always be on point. They did a great job!! Amy and Marvin kept the docks on lockdown and Lil Marvin and the rest of the dock crew were straight hustlers! I honestly cant say enough good things about Blue Marlin Cove...other than...We'll be Back.

what kind of seas did you all have on the crossing coming back home? I was supposed to cross on the 17th on my way to Elbow Cay, but left the 15th instead becuase it was suppose to be really ugly on Sunday. I had a friend that still made the crossing coming out of Ft Pierce to Marsh Harbour and he said it was really bad. He actually broke a couple welds on his t-top and one leg of t-top pulled out of the floor a little. He was in a 26' cc.

VAC...we ran with 7 other boats to PBI and I will tell you it was nasty for us. 6-7' quartering rollers with a 3-4' cross chop. At some points we were running about 30 yards apart from some of the other boats. My crew took some pics (turned out really blurry) of 4 Plays antennas as we lost their entire boat after dropping in on some of the larger rollers...
Nasty in my 2350 but she is built well and handled like a champ! No breaks, cracks or lifts!
