Looking for an inexpensive bay boat drafting less than 12 inches. 4 stroke Yamaha a big plus. Older vessels in good condition needing new power are a possibilty.

Thank All...

Floating draft is important because I spend some time in the Mosquito Lagoon's Pole&Troll Zone where they have a 12 inch or less draft rule...

Not yet. I test rode a Hydra Sports Bay Bolt last Saturday. The ride and floating draft were awesome. Too bad it was so badly beat-up...

I have a friend who has offered me his '04 Sea Pro at a very reasonable price if I can wait until he finds the Contenter he's looking for. However, I'm just about at my limit for waiting :)

You are right about them being heavy :) Can you give me an idea of the Verado's fuel usage? I have NO experience with these motors and with the "problems" I've had with Mercury in the past I'm a bit trigger shy about owning another...

no clue on fuel to be honest.. I know I get 2.0 according to the smartcraft gauges, so Id say that i get a little better as the fuel sender unit is off. Id guess near 3.

Believe what ever you want about verados. Everyone will have something to say good or bad. I am a firm believer that once you go black you dont go back. I have only had one issue caused from a hole in a hose that happened a few months back - after almost 5 years.

HP is one thing torque curves are another. these engines are fun as can be. Only downside to the supercharged computer controlled engine is the battery requirements, make sure you got nice agm batteries.

I love verados, hope my next sled has 2 of them. :)

I bought that beat up Bay Bolt that you test rode. It was the one with Snake Skin wrap. I completely refurbished it. Fixed all the beat up hatches, cushions, and re-wired the boat. I also added a power pole, jack plate(atlas) lenco's, 101 lbs trolling motor, and every wire in that boat was replaced along with every pump.

That was the only boat I wanted. If you can find a good deal on one I would highly consider it. It is not a speed demon but it very wide and rides awesome. Plus it has those big hatches. It fishes like a barge and it is solid heavy so you can just plow through waves.

I like them.........I can understand after you saw the boat why you did not buy it at 17,000 that boat was trashed..........I brought it back to life and it looks freakin sweet now.

Great news! I'm happy for you AND the boat :) BTW, he called me as I was heading home telling me another buyer (you) offered him a bit less giving me another chance to have it for $16,000. The boat went to the right buyer. Good luck and enjoy the boat :thumbsup:thumbsup

Yeah, I kind of figured. That boat need a ton of work to make it right. Im in the Marine business so I have connections but I still put in over 7K to get it where I needs it to be. I would not have purchased that boat for more than 15,500.00.
I told him that I did not want the boat at 17k and we agreed on 15,500 and he drove it to me all the way over from the east coast to tampa! I was shocked that the 150hp Yamaha pushed that boat like it does. 43mph with one person. I am putting an F225 yamaha on it this winter. I already have the engine. For as beat up as the boat was the engine appears to be solid.

I have to wait for the gel coat guy to get me back my hatches they are having the non-skid put on it now.
I will then have to clean the crap out of the boat and I will show before, during restoration, and after.

I am anal about boat wiring and rigging. I really wanted a bay bolt becuase of the type of fishing I do. Not one of 10 I looked at were rigged anywhere close to what I would have liked. I decided to find one that was in need of TLC. Fortunatly I am able to get everything at dealer cost and I have a guy who is a very good rigger. I like to go 20-30miles off on a nice day and I am not messing around with bad wiring, bad batteries, and stuff that doesn't work.

its the biggest 20 ft bay boat around.
will it handle 5 people...................thats a bunch of people. I would feel croweded on my 23ft with 5 people. I think that you could put 5 people on it, but like any boat under 25ft it will be crowded.

The boat has a 9ft beam like my 23fter so there is plenty of stability.

we fish five on my friends 23. its not that bad if you can fish all around the boat, but on a wreck that were all fishing off the back its a pain but we get it done. I wouldnt mind having your 19 if I had a way to comer up with the money. I really like my friends 23.

I have a 2003 Century 2101 with 200 Yamaha OX66 SWS II on the back. I have owned it since 2007.

Single axle Trailer: running gear rebuilt in 2008

60 gallon gas tank, Bobs Jackplate, Lenco trim tabs (Control box is toast I need to replace), Hummingbird 587ci color gps/chart/ff, Icom 504 VHF, raw water wash down, 3 live wells (One very large aftermarket oval under the seat) could be removed to add more cooler space. Wired for trolling motor, I had on on it but got rid of it last year. Bimini New in 2010. Approx 500 hours, I replaced the tach and the hours weren't reading so I need to have it hooked up to a computer to get exact hours. It will float and idle in 12" jacked all the way up but will not jump on plane. 4 adults no problem as it has moderate gunnels, very dry deck and bilge. Not much upholstery on the boat but what's there could use to be replaced. No rips, just stained.

engine always has been serviced sprayed down with CRC.

tops out at 50 mph at 5500
Cruise at 38-42 @ 4000-4300 rpm.

It's due for my off season detail and wax but I have more pictures if you want em: asking 15k.

These pics are a year or two old, My plan has been to do my off season service, detail/wax take pictures and then list the boat but I figured I would post here since your asking.

ok, as requested. Here are the pictures of the snake skin 23ft Bay bolt that I pretty much gutted and restored.
I broke the boat in right.
Slammed the grouper before the `16th closure and I was able to take 3rd in the west coast redfish tournament with this boat.

Here are the photos of us working on it and then the finshed project.

It was a ton of work and some over expenditures but I pretty much have the machine that I wanted that will suite my needs. Since I got it up and running I put some fishing time into this boat. For the Tampa Bay Area it does very well. No it is not an offshore boat. No it is not a negative tide skinny water flats boat. It will take you 20-30 miles off on a nice to average day. And it will float in 10-12" of water and plane off in about 1.5ft. I was shocked how shallow draft this boat is. And I was shocked at how well it handled 3 foot seas offshore.

It is a slow boat but very solid and stable. For my type of fishing it is perfect........................................... ........................for now.

the BayBolt might have to be a considered option for me, given teh lack of used smaller cats... Tired of being boatless... ugh.

You just have to ask yourself this question when buying a boat like this: What type of fishing do I do? Do I want to just fish offshore or do I want to be able to fish for the majority of things that this area offers. I considered buying the 25ft Parker SE but with all the stupid regulations and gas prices that makes going only offshore very limiting. I love to fish for everything that we have here. Dec-April........flats for reds/trout. May-July Snook and Tarpon on the beaches, Sept-Oct Reds on flats dock lights bridges at night. Nov and Dec Grouper and offshore fishing. This type of boat will allow me to do all that stuff.

So far it has worked out good. and after gutting this boat and completely rewiring it..............I got a chance to see how well these boats are built. You would not believe how solid this boat is. They put some major composit/kevlar reinforcments throughout the hull. The boat is a brick ***** house. I thought for sure that a boat this heavy would not be able to plane off in shallow water............was I wrong. I guess being so wide and the fact it has a step in the hull makes it get up real quick.

I highly recommend it. The only real negative thing I can say about this boat is it is not a speed demon. With a v6 150 2 stroke I was getting 39mph with a light load at w.o.t. with a 200 hp 4 stroke I am getting about 43 mph with a loaded gas tank. I figure a 250 hp will top off at about 50mph and cruise at 3500 at around 32-34mph.
