Forget about fishing, boating, or even walking on the beaches of Tyndall AFB. You will not be allowed within 500 ft. You are a security threat.

The purpose of the request is to provide Tyndall AFB with an enhanced security plan to address areas where lack of security/restriction on access leaves personnel and resources vulnerable to unauthorized activities

What a load of crap...

Oh but they are offering an official review and comment period so they can officially not give a flyin **** what we think.

THIS IS A LOAD OF POO POO. I could really care less about Tyndall AFB other than I fish all along the shore line on the back side and Crooked Island. If the Base Commander is that Paranoid he needs to go to Gitmo and run that base. The shore line is for the public. If this occurs I would rather see the base shut down and they all leave and go else where.

Unfortunately it's the kind of world we live in today.

It sounds like it would only be put into place during a higher threat level. Most bases these days are on a much lower threat level. I wouldn't worry much about this.

It could be workable if the restricted zone does not close a navigable channel in the ICW. The propositions ship channel at Blount Island, Jacksonville is in the best redfish areas. But the Marines have it closed. Of course they often have ships loaded with .....stuff....at the dock.

One wonders if the threat matches the restricted zones proposed.

I may get my head handed to me for saying this but.........we are at war. At war with twisted beliefs and sick people. There have to be sacrifices made. The AFB was there long before 9/11. Things are getting worse with these "home grown/raised terrorists. Country first.

I'd like to know how often they will put this into place.

Can't fish around the mouth of the St Marys base... not sure why this should be different. This is just the way that a terrorist would attack im sure.

The biggest threat to TAFB is 98 running thru the middle of it. I smell ecotards pushing someone looking for a promotion. Why would someone be concerned about threats not be concerned about busloads of unarmed AF personnel unloading at area restaurants? Think Israel.

I just have to be quite cynical and think the government is less worried about an attack on those personel than they are the possible destruction of a few 10 million dollar airplanes or espionage.

Word is that the Base Commander has now backed off, and that the proposal is withdrawn. It will be re-introduced later with different wording
