Reports have been scarce in the Panhandle since Snapper season went out.....not much to look at.

With the prospects of an additional season for ARS this year, I decided to get with the times and start a photobucket account so I can post better quality photos.

A few photos from 2010:

Good work! I still can't get myself to wear long sleeves, and especially not dark.

I'm having snapper for lunch today. :-)

Don do you have an account with a photo handler like photobucket.com? Place your pics in there and go there as you need your pics and copy the IMG Code come back to your post and press Ctrl + V. (or paste) EZPZ

There are probably better handlers out now which I'd take note of if someone suggest. PBucket is getting too commercial. Still works well for me.:shrug

One more large bag of snapper left. :-)

How far are you running with that Carolina Skiff? West Beach I am presuming?

My Skiff is not a flat bottom like most Carolina Skiffs, it is a modified V-hull. Also, it has around 24 inches of freeboard....higher than most bay boats.

Here is a better shot of what the hull looks like.

Most of the time I launch at St. Andrews Marina in Panama City. I like to run out 20-25 miles South West of the pass to hit the live bottom in 100 + feet of water.

I have to pick my days, and keep a good eye on the weather. I have twin chartplotters (Lowrance HDS units) both with Sirius Satellite Marine Weather. It gives forecast wave height, sea surface temps, and radar overlay. It will also tell you what direction a T storm is heading, and what the speed is.

I have two Vhf radios on board, one is a hand held in the ditch bag. I keep an PLB in the ditch bag too.

I do get some funny looks sometimes from the guys with "big boats"......I just smile a wave.

Its a little slower, and a little wet sometimes, but its a great boat. It has a full liner with suppers out the back too.

If its too rough to fish outside, I just stay in.....it only has a 12" draft.

The best part is, I can make an 80 mile round trip, and put 18 gallons of fuel in the boat. Thats never shutting the engine down all day too! :grin

Thanks guys!

Cleaning fish back at the house, the Yellow Flies will tear you up! The long sleeves help some.

I have to say, on those hot still days, I do roll the sleeves up after lunch many times. The light blue is as dark a color as I go. I like the Bass Pro XPS shirts. They have the most vents....across the back and zip open under arm vents too.

I have enough Snapper to feed about 6 people....after that, I am out too. Lets hope for a good Gag season, and some extra ARS days too.

Success....you figured out the photos!

Nice catch. Hey what boat is that in your Avatar? Is it a DLV Skiff?

Nah, it's a 1997 plain ole flat bottom. Used it to catch everthing from Bream to Grouper though.http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/donald811/boat11-09001.jpg

Thanks for the pics beck, and glad to see you got pic posting under control donald those are some great fish.
I am very intrigued by the boat beck it sounds like a good fit as a all around fishing machine.
Would you buy another one? or change anything on it?

Joe, it is a great all around boat. Like I tell most, its not great at any one thing, but good at most things. With Carolina Skiff, you get a lot of boat for the money. Mine is the Elite series, which has a few more features like a nice 27 gallon bait well, full liner, walk around gunwhales, jumps seats.....etc.

With the beam carrying all the way to the bow, you get the room of a much bigger boat. Also, it is amazingly stable at rest.

Like I said earlier, its not deep v-hull offshore boat, but on reasonable days, I love to fish offshore in my boat. In fact, I have only fished it inshore 2 time in 2 years. Ha! When it is too rough, I can fish the bay. Best part is the fuel consumption....its fantastic.

I would buy another, and the only thing I would change is a 25 footer instead of the 21.

One last thing, I have been out in some fairly rough conditions and never felt unsafe.....just slow!

Let me know if you have any questions.....I would be glad to answer them. Maybe we can take a fishing trip.

Thanks for sharing beck, I am just now starting to look and gather my intel.
I really like that measly fuel usage, I have had bass boats my whole life but the saltwater bug
has bitten and wont let go. Fishing? anytime just let me know.

Nice fish Shawn! If I don't go to Mississippi this coming weekend for the bow opener I will be bottom fishing. Let me know if you want to go.
